Summer's Silhouette
03:25
|
|||
There's a fire on the coast,
Set to burn up driftwood dreams,
Cut From willow trees,
We Surrendered them,
And left them for the sea.
So here's to all the nights,
I tried to feel alive,
Dove into a bottle,
That never made things right.
So we'll walk down to the shore,
Hoping that there's more to this than youth;
And all our hearts beat,
By our sides;
When the tide comes up we'll all go down,
Lungs will turn to foam
and then we'll drown.
I'd hoped these summer nights,
Would save me from my life,
But now i see the board-walk breaks,
As easily as...
me.
So we'll walk down to the shore,
Hoping that there's more to this than youth;
And all our hearts beat,
By our sides;
When the tide comes up we'll all go down,
Lungs will turn to foam
and then we'll drown.
My Breaths are getting short and shallow,
Drowning in this dead end town;
Now i see,
My life should mean,
So much more than,
Tides and toasts to me.
So we'll walk down to the shore,
Hoping that there's more to this than youth;
And all our hearts beat,
By our sides;
When the tide comes up we'll all go down,
Lungs will turn to foam
and then we'll drown.

The King of Hearts
04:15
|
|||
The crimson sand is slipping through the hour glass...
But this could be,
Eternity for me.
So watch the clouds,
Overhead,
Passing by like broken dreams.
The season's slipping through our hands,
Faster than we thought it seemed.
Now;
He's got his finger on the trigger,
Something is daring him to pull,
Well he'll never...
He'll never
Learn to make them full.
The crimson sand is slipping through the hour glass,
As the king of hearts is counting grains of sand.
Bu we've wasted all our time,
On these memories of you,
Of broken glass,
And shattered toys.
I never was one for the noise
Of screaming,
Between lovers who never knew their names,
Woke up beside my broken veins.
Now;
He's got his finger on the trigger,
Something is daring him to pull,
Well he'll never...
He'll never
Learn to make them full.
The crimson sand is slipping through the hour glass,
As the king of hearts is counting grains of sand.
You had needles,
We had pills,
If only you had climbed those hills,
Or maybe even mountains-
I guess we'll never know.
But there's one thing we'll always guarantee,
Is that you'll remain in memory...
Of what we lost!
And your scars aren't here for show,
You know more than letting go,
We'll fight for every breath,
We won't let you...
Fall behind!
We won't find resolve in the refined,
We'll-
Hold on!
For the king of hearts
Hold on,
For the kings of hearts.
I won't let you go!
I won't let go.

I'm gonna burn this city down.
Kids pop pills like prozac prodigies,
Closed eyes,
Watch a static screen.
Gaining ground,
We're losing love,
Now what do we have left?
If you had a gun against your head,
Would you still love the life you've lead?
For those dissatisfied at heart,
Take a hammer to the walls like it's an art.
You need to remember,
With every breath you take,
You're dying.
You need to remember,
You need to feel...
You need to feel alive.
If you had a gun against your head,
Would you still love the life you've lead?
(Excerpt of Mario Savio's Speech at 12/2/64 Berkeley Protest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Voh3I2h6PBo)
(Press on, Press on)
Press, on!
If you had a gun against your head,
Would you still love the life you've lead?
For those dissatisfied at heart,
Take a hammer to the walls like it's an art.
Until you know that every breath you take brings you one step closer to dying-
you're not living.

(Same as The King of Hearts plus a prechorus)
You know you never had to leave,
Your silhouette reflected in the door,
Now skies come crashing down on me.
